what are the best performance gears to put on my 99 f150 4.2l??
with 305/40r22.

Depends on any other mods you might have. Do you know what ratio you are running now?

3:73, 4:10, 4:56 and 4:88 are the normal options. Higher the gear ration, quicker the truck will wind up. Higher the number though, the more gas mpg will you lose and higher your rpms be as well.

 

well the only thing i have on the truck is a 3' spectre air intake with dual super 40 series flowmaster. i looked up for the code and its 19 so i have 3.55. Everything else is stock. in runs good and even keeps up with v8 but i feel like i want more. so doing gears could be a good start then off with headers, injectors, maybe cam and tune it up.

 

that 3 inch intake might be hurtin power if it dosnt utilize the fender cold air intake. that slowmaster is hurting your hp.i just realized you have a v6. doing gears in 4.1 or 4.3 will help the most. idk whats works with a v6. injectors wont help. first thing would be a tuner like superchips or sct
