6 Speed Tranny Swap In 2001 Screw Possible???
Hello all, I was over at the lightning rodders forum and reading bout some of the guys doing swaps from auto to standard transmissions. My question is, can you get a T56 that will accept a transfercase? Or do I need to go with something like a ZF6 speed out of a superduty? Will the ZF6 accept my Borg warner 4406 T-case or do I have to use one out of a superduty? Which T-case can I get that will work with my factory shift on the fly 4X4 selector ****? Thanks guys. This is all just a thought for a possible conversion in the future.

I have read about an f150 T56 conversion. I tried but could quickly find it. I think it was a 2wd though. For me the problem was it was extremely expensive, even as cool as it sounds.
The ZF6 is a more more practical swap. Search the forums for "ZF6 Expedition" there are a few threads that have a lot of info to get started with.

Well according to Clydesdale, I shouldn't need a body lift to do the install. Which would be perfect for me, even if I do have to modify the trans tunnel a considerable amount. I would really like to retaing my Borg Warner T-Case with electric shift if I can. Can I get a different spline count out put shaft for the trans or a input shaft for the T-Case to make it work? (Ie: 24spline, 31spline...what ever the spline counts are of the output shafts for the ZF6's are and the same with the T-Case?) I will have to do some research.

What clutch do you guys recommend I run with this set up? I am starting to think I will make this mod happen before I build the other engine for the truck. The other engine as of right now will be supercharged and fully built for the street. Probably won't be for another year or so before I get the other engine built.
