The chart at the bottom of his post is totally off the wall - he's trying to compare Amsoil's Mercon LV/SP replacement with standard Mercon V.

Amsoil's standard Mercon V replacement has the following numbers:

7.5
38.8
163

Amsoil does not have a fluid suitable for the CVT, and they are upfront about that.
The spec's on Scamsoil's "standard Mercon V replacement" don't match up with Motorcraft Mercon V.

You must have missed this in the TSB:

No, you can use *ANY* fluid that meets Mercon V specs. If you could only use Motorcraft fluid, Ford would have to GIVE it to you on request during the warranty period. That ain't happening. Some brands are better than others.

Takeda, when are you gonna learn how to resize images? Your images and charts are getting VERY ANNOYING. Horizontal scroll bars through the entire thread make it very difficult to read.

So serious question here. Are you on the slow side? By that I mean did you ride
the short bus as a child?

The reason I ask is because in the paragraph that you were ever so nice to
circle for us does not mention anything about mercon v just the new mercon SP
and M5 fluids.

There are a ton of cars and trucks out there running Amsoil. It's pricey, but it's a high-quality fluid. It's up to you if you think the cost is worth it.

I say Amsoil is what you're looking for, but I have a thread where I replaced all my fluids with Royal Purple. It's similar to Amsoil (at least marketing-wise) and cheaper. Somehow, it's a more controversial fluid, but I am happy with the results. If you maintain a regular service interval relative to your driving habits, your drivetrain will be fine with anything that's up to spec.

If you have the extra coin, go with Amsoil...you won't be disappointed. Forget that 'Takeda' even exists when it comes to intelligent discussions about oils and lubricants. He has his own agenda !!

Ordered online. You can set up a 'dealer' account for (I think) $20 per year and get a good break on the prices. There are members on here that are dealers (can't remember them now) that would sell direct to you, but, yes Amsoil has to be ordered or through a dealer. As a side-note, I am a dealer, but time I got through the shipping it would be as cheap for you to get yourself signed up yourself. www.amsoil.com

You need to think long and hard before you spend $11.50 a quart (plus sales tax and shipping) for ATF.

It looks like you have a local dealer:
