'97 4.6L, 102K miles, AutoTrans Leaking . . .

I just had my truck into the shop for a brake fluid change-out. The mechanic showed me that there is a leak at the seal where the engine and trans. meet.
I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised at the fact that there was a leak, as I had to put in about a 1/3 of a quart of ATF a week ago (first time ever, that I remember).

As I'm mechanically ignorant, what am I in for down the road?

I bought the truck in late '98 with about 32K miles on it, was self-employed from that time until about a year and a half ago (hence the low number of miles put on the truck), and since then drive the truck to work and back, putting on roughly 10K miles/year.

As I can't afford to replace it, it is worth - to me - alot more than it's resale value, and I'd like to keep it as long as possible.

So, what is the most likely scenario that I should expect? Will the leak get slowly or progressively worse? Is there anything I can do to slow the rate of deterioration?

Thanks, in advance,for all comments/advice/suggestions!

The leak won't get any better until it's fixed. Seal less than $20, labor is
the main issue if you're having it done and if it is a 4x4 it's even worse.

Try TransX. Auto zone has it. I had a front pump seal leak there and this cured it.

I had a visible drip, say a drop every 30-60 seconds or so, and this did the trick.

It stopped it completely until next 30k mile fluid change. I put in another can and it stopped.

I'm not one for additives but in this case it might be worth it.
