Transmission slips
Transmission slips
I have a 1980 F150 with a C6. It just started this morning. In 3rd gear it slips. the revs increase but not the speed. First and second are fine. Topped up the fluid but no change. Any ideas? Thanks
I'll stab it with the Direct clutches are bad.
I had a C-6 in 87 Bronco. If I remember 1st gear is the forward clutch, 2nd gear is from a band, and 3rd gear is from the direct clutches.
I slipped only in reverse. Reverse drum had only 3 cluthes in there..... was told there should be 4.
Complete Rebuild and in and out cost 700 in '92 including shift kit.
That trans nearly went 200k after.
In fact that Bronco is still on the road with that same rebuild. Tough tranny.
