no reverse
i have an 07 f-150 4.6
i ve lost reverse just like that
105,000 kms
have not tried yet but i can only assume i ll get screwed on the warrenty being 5000 over
no warning nothing just gone,
forward is ok
could it be as simple as an oil change?
oil is good by the way
any ideas clues or help much appreiciated
thank you

well you're suppose to change the atf every 30k miles. Does the fluid have metal flakes in it or is it black? Is it pink milk shake looking (coolant leaking into atf cooler)?
If the fluid looks good, it's probably a sensor. Pull codes.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but it's usually not a simple fix when you lose reverse.
My wife's 2004 Expedition had something similar, at 114,000 miles. No reverse but she also lost top gear. I dropped the pan to check the fluid and it was brownish (meaning it had particles in it). The magnet also had a lot of shavings in it.
I ended up buying a used trans for $600.00 and replaced the transmission. I still have her old one in the garage and I plan to take it apart to rebuild it. Waiting on winter time so it's not 100+ outside every day.
NOTE: I am in NO way a transmission expert. Only offering up information.

thank you for the inputi suspect you guys are right in assuming the worst,
i havent got into it yet,but i dont think i could be so lucky as dirty oil.
i think they build them tofail just after warrenty,
this isnt the first time,
i had a 19905 speed manual new and reverse mysteriously failed then just after warrenty expired.
thankx for your time

Most likely your reverse band failed. Unfortunately to replace the reverse band you have to take the trans most of the way apart.

This may help.
Unfortunately this would have to be a mechanical problem. There is nothing electrical about reverse gear in the AODE or 4R70W transmissions. You could have a bad Low/Reverse Band, or a bad Reverse clutch pack.

That being said you probably need to have a professional look at it.
