Mag-Hytec Transmission Pan ?????

I am being told that the Mag-Hytec transmission pan plays hell on the automatic transmissions because the magnet effects the electronic sensor. Has anyone had this problem? I installed the Mag-Hytec cover on the rear diff and think the craftsmanship is amazing...Very nice and was thinking about getting the transmission pan.

I looked into getting one from 4wheel parts today when I picked up my mag-hytec rear diff cover and he warned me against getting the transmission pan because he said that there was an issue with the magnet and the electronic transmission. Just thought I would ask....

No issues when I had mine either.....the only thing I'll add is with the increase in fluid capicity a larger cooler should be utilized...

It sounds like you're getting some bad information. I've never had a problem with mine. And furthermore, this is the first time I've heard of something like this. Most transmissions I've seen have a magnet in the pan. And transmissions where you can't drop the pan, like on a Honda, the drain plug is magnetic.

I am listening to what everyone is saying and probably going to get one. The excuse that I was told is that the mag-hytec magnet is very strong and has been know to cause problems with the ford electronic transmission.

Why would I need a larger cooler? How much are they and where do I get one?

My stock pan had a magnet in it that was closer to the valve body than the Mag Hytec deep pan that I have now. I haven't had any issues at all with the tranny.

I'm just repeating something that the diesel guys already know.....eventhough the mag pan comes with cooling fins, a larger cooler should be used....the more hot fluid your tranny has the more area is needed to control the temperature....an oversized aluminum pan does have an effect on cooling but does not when heavy towing is considered.....a mag pan is great for daily driving but when towing you're back to square one with out the larger cooler......

Great advise. I have a diesel as well and will take that into consideration. Where can I get a larger cooler? Approximately how much? I appreciate the advise.

No, still have just the stock tow package tranny cooler. I've never seen temps over about 180 no matter the use, towing or offroading. I don't see the point in adding one since my temps never get that high as it is currently set up. I've got an autometer gauge in the tranny out line and a scangauge, both read within 10 degrees of each other at all times. If you are questioning your tranny temps get a get gauge and monitor them and make your decision based on temp reading.
