Tranny fluid in external case connector questions?

My tranny (4r70w) in my 99 xlt 4x4 has been slipping 2nd to third for a while now after only 50k on a rebuild. I was checking the sensors and wiring for anything obvious because the fluid looks great , and there is no metal at all in the pan , and found the wire harness external connector has fluid in it.

Could this be causing my 2nd to 3rd gear slip , and is it fairly easy to replace like the actual internal harness is?

Also I believe the rebuilt tranny was from a 98 Expedition , and most sites say hard wired from 98 up , with a few saying 99 up , and the external connectors may be different?

Thanks for any help.
