transmission

I have a 1999 F-150 with a 4.2L V6 engine. I am replacing the transmission. Do I need to drop the exhaust to remove the transmission or can I work around it. My Haynes manual says to remove it. Looks like its possible to work around it. Has anyone R&R there trans without dropping the exhaust. Thanks for the help any other ideas would be great.

Only way to know for sure is to try it.
If it doesn't work, then you'll have to remove it.

On my 2wd 03 with a manual trans, the exhaust had to be dropped.
