change of tranny fluid

Hi guys. I have a 98 2WD with about 183,000 on the clock. Now I now for sure the fluid has not been changed for about 50,000 miles but i can't remember past that (horrible I know). What I want to know is with the high milage, should I drain the torque converter and replace fluid or sshould I just levae it alone? I heard stories of rebuilds after changing but some say thats with any change and some say its only with a flush. I just want a clear cut answer

Thanks!

Drop the pan, change the filter, clean the pan and magnet, and drain the torque converter.
