RIP Transmission #5
I rebuilt one with parts from a 4x2 but I usually just find one from a scrap yard. #5 was found in a scrap yard just south of Toronto, Canada 4 years ago. It was from a warehouse that had stored brand new transmissions from 1999 Model Year. It lasted the longest of them all. I might rebuild this one. But for now I found 3 candidates in Michigan for less than $600.00. I will throw that in the truck and work on the broken one. Always good to have a spare.....

The real question is how fast can you have it removed and the new one installed? Is that like a brake job time frame for the rest of us folks.
Yea, that guy on LR is building one (6two), that's going to be something..
Yea, I agree ZF! But then again, I think you may have some kind of FATAL attraction with the other.

If that is a 4x4 gasser trans, the gods have shown down upon me.
Now all I need is the 351 to put in front of it

I get mine out of junkyards. $400.00 - $600.00. I wont' spend more than $600.00 for a junker. Rebuilt transmissions run about $900.00. Here is a site that rebuilds them. http://www.drivetrain.com/parts_cata...ions.html#Ford
