OSS TSS Not matching

'08 5.4L 4x4, Gryphon 87 perf tune.

So I've been driving a lot on the highway lately and I've started to notice that after driving for a while I get a lot more torque converter vibration, or what I deem to be TC vibration. Its only under acceleration and if I push the throttle harder it feels like it suddenly connect and throws the power down and off you go like a rocket. I don't know if that is just the fueling curve with the tune or not but, long story short I figured what the heck and put the OSS and TSS on the gryphon and locked OD out.

Now I was under the impression that they were supposed to match in 3rd so much to my concern they didn't match exactly. At times it looked as though they matched but most of the time they were jumping all over the place. Now I'm not sure which is suppose to is suppose to be higher when a trans is slipping but they were trading places on which was higher than the other, whether it was just cruising or under a load.

I remember a while back I did the same test and they were dead on. So is it just a slow sensor or am I in for a cratered tranny? I had my truck in not long ago because of harsh shifting and TC vibration, basically the exact same symptoms, and the fluid level was low so I thought it may have blew a seal but it turns out Ford f-ed up the trans service and never filled it up properly (my fault, never trust the stealership to do it right). I drove it a solid 8 hours straight on that too unfortunately.

I'm going to check it on a cold tranny come friday and keep you posted.

Have you tried reloading the stock tune to see if that fixes it? If it does, contact PHP, something is wrong with your custom tune.

The speed sensor signals do jump around a bit. That's normal. If you are reading less than 10 RPM difference it is just the sensors. That's nothing to worry about. If the trans is slipping the TSS will be higher than the OSS.

No I haven't tried putting it back to the stock tune. I really hate changing tunes, if I can minimize it as much as possible I will. Its about -30C (again) around here right now which is another reason I'm not inclined to. I was trolling around town tonight with OD locked out and they were both bang on, numbers changed at the exact same time. Will see what happens on the highway tomorrow and see if during the drive they stop matching and changing together. As far as whether they're within 10rpm of each other, I would say yes....I think, but its so hard to tell visually when they change so fast.

Seems to me like they are close enough, definitely within 10rpm. Don't know what the vibration is.

I have an 05' Lariat, that had some vibrations on T/O, and it turned out the fix was some friction modifier for the rear diff. (pop the speed sensor plug off put a tube in it) Fired it up and the S.O.B. runs like a striped *** mule! Lemme know if it helps, Lance
