i know theres alot of different threads about this but most are dead...i have an 06 lariat 4x4 5.4 v8 supercrew short bed with 115 000 km(about 71000 miles) and my truck no longer drives at all...it started with the truck slamming into gear then it started to slip alittle once in awhile then it was very bad and all the time....sometimes i wouldnt have first gear then i pretty much lost third then it just stopped driving completely and started making a whinning noise from the tranny pump. when it stopped working i got the trans fault and o/d flashing on the dash. i had my neighbour who owns a tranny shop use his vag scan to read the codes and it came up as torque converter and tranny pump errors. my qustion is has anyone had this issue and only had to replace the torque converter and or pump ? im thinking the whole tranny needs to be replaced from what iv read from every other post but it is possible people have been gettin ripped off because they wouldnt know better. Also if i do need to replace the tranny i found a used one for $680 dollars with 42000km ( about 26 000 miles) on it however the tranny is from an 07 although both trannies are 4r75e i want to make sure it would go in my truck i have had one person say it wont but i dont see why it wouldnt...what would have changed in that year....also i found a reman torque converter for $80 dollars just wondering if there are different versions from the trucks or are they all the same. thanks

 

Just ask your friend, if he own a shop, I'm sure he can point you in a better direction than us.
