Transmission I.D.

Ok so within the last few days my tranny has started to slip pretty bad. Right now I'm trying to go through what options i have, the only problem i have is that i don't know what transmission i have. My truck is a 1997 2wd with a 4.6, I'm guessing e4od? Probably just gonna order a rebuild kit from advanced auto then have a real close family friend that is a mechanic do all the work.

Most likely a 4R70W. Look on the door jamb sticker, that's code "U".

The E4OD was never mated to the 4.6L from the factory. They were all 4R70Ws.
