From what I have heard, the shuttering problem is the T/C going bad.

I had that issue with a Dodge ram I had. But it was only in reverse, when it was cold. so I had to make sure I backed it in at night so I could just drive right out in the morning. Otherwise it would shutter shake and stall out over and over, but no problem in drive. With the ford I still think its electrical .A plug change and COP's would have been cheaper. I dont want them to think my pockets are any deeper though so Ill wait to see what they say before I open my mouth. I did have the extended warranty but I think thats done now. SOL

Its fixed. Picked it up an hour ago. Boy does it feel sluggish on the stock tune. Im going to reprogram it in a little while and take it for a ride. expensive fix but I feel better having it diagnosed and repaired right away rather than dragging it out and possibly doing more damage. I detailed another Corvette today to earn a few extra bucks. I just need another dozen to pay for this repair job.

Well I wasnt able to load any tunes into the truck. They had said they would flash the computer , so I had returned it to stock. but the Edge wont allow me to do anything. Its showing F1 , DTC alert 4,and 4 other codes wich mean nothing to me. It still runs and drives in the stock program . but that pretty unsatisfying especially rolling on the 22's.

try disconnecting the edge reboot the pcm by either disconnecting the battery or pull the pcm's fuse. hook it all back up and try to load the tune. Should work. Might be you can down load an update from edge if it dont.

mine started shuttering at 270,000 took it in and had a tune up, filter change and band tightend worked great for approx 3 weeks and the it started again, found out Ford offers an additive for the tranny that helps with this went to the dealer spent $6.00 no more shuttering although i blew a head gasket three weeks latter and it's parked till i find another 4.6l but the tranny was ok. on a foot note though i'll be changing the tranny with the engine just because i want to save the labor latter.

My problem wasn't the transmission. The seal between the transmission and the transfercase wasn't doing its job. Fluid from the transmission leaked into the transfercase , overfilling it. the shuttering was caused by the overfilled transfercase. Simple but expensive fix, if done at the dealership. Why they had to flash my pcm, I don't know. Probably to add insult to injury.

That stinks Jon... the edge software problem happens when the dealer flashes a new program to the pcm that is not in your edge's storage iirc.

I just sent my Evolution back to Edge Products. The problem I was experiencing trying to update the programer was the result of Edge products updating their website. When they did , they decided not to include upgrades for the programers using the lightning sortware. Now they are using the fusion software. So they will be sending me a new Evolution that uses the Fusion software. Positive side = new programer. negative side = shipping to and from Utah will take two weeks. I should have had them send it right to PHP for an upgrade and tunes. At least my truck is not shuttering anymore.

Happy days are here again

I received my programmer from Edge products today. Unfortunately they didn't return the new unit in the Original box as I had sent it. But dont look a gift horse in the mouth. right. What ever that means. So , they sent me a Chameleon version. This is the first time Ive heard of it. The software and/or hardware have been updated . and the product has been tested for proper function , and passed. It appears no different than my original Evolution. I have installed it, and loaded in the level 3 program with a few minor adjustments to timing and top speed limiter. I had to go to a class I take tonight, so I had the opportunity to get a little highway time in as well as secondary roads which permit intermittent spurts of right pedal enthusiasm. All was good. Im glad to have it back. But do I want to part with it again soon for the conversion and custom tunes? I may wait till the winter tires have to go on and more conservative driving is the norm. But thank You Edge Products for going above and beyond with the replacement of my Evolution. It is much appreciated. J.B. ============= =========

The apparent drivetain shutter ,was in fact drivetrain related.( overfilled transfercase as result of leaking rear transmision seal) 94,000 miles. The consequences of dealership diagnostic/repair work is. The sacrificial pcm reflashing. Which in turn turned into a programmer issue. Due to circumstances beyond my contol , I appologize for the diversion of the o.p. lol
