2008 with Harsh 3-2 Downshift
Hi all. I am chasing a harsh 3-2 downshift on my 2008, 4x4 with 26,000 miles. It is basically just like the old tsb for a harsh shift on tip in at low speeds on trucks built mid way through 05. There was a Special service message that stated a intermittent transmission clunk on 3-2 downshift that was normal then a TSB later released to reprogram the PCM for the 04' and 05' trucks. My problem is the dealer is trying to reference the old SSM & TSB and tell me it's normal. They did reprogram the PCM which didn't eliminate it and I have put over 1,000 miles on it since so it should have "learned" my driving. I know 2 other people with the same 08' truck as me that do not do it. I guess what I am asking is: 1.)Is this normal or not? 2.)Anyone had this problem with a post 2005 and get it fixed? Thanks for any help
I have what sounds like a similar problem in my 08 4x4 with 30000 miles. While driving 25-30 mph, with my foot gently on the accelerator (starting to slow down in subdivision), the rpms will shoot up then there will be a slight clunk.... like it slipped out of gear then back in again. I am taking it to the dealership on Monday to get it looked at while I am still under warranty. I had it in one other time for this problem and they told me it was a bad COP. It obviously didn't resolve the issue. Good luck 02RegularCab4x4. Have you found anything out about your truck?

CJB & OP:
I had my 08's PCM reprogrammed about 7 months ago for the same identical thing that CJB notated. It has yet to happen again, and I am sure that it fixed it.
OP: try a different dealership if possible.
