I gotta noise

I just put a 4r70w in my 94 flareside. I know my torque converter nuts are tight. I got this clicking noise that is coming from the trans that sounds like the t/c nuts hitting the sight shield. Any ideas? thanks.

If it is, just give it a while and it'll take care of itself.

On a serious note, did you try turning it by hand to see if you can ID the source without the extra sound and danger of a running engine?

I never thought of that. A 5.0 powered lathe! I'm gonna pull the sight sheild here in a little bit and spin it and try to see what's up. Thanks.

Look for cracks in the flex plate.

I just got home from messin with it. Here we go. I moved the truck around the garage a few times after i got the tranny in with no noise. then it started. total run time about a minute. It's really tinny but i can't see any marks on the torque nuts or weights where it's hitting anything. I'm thinking but dreading that it might be in the engine. It took a while for the oil pressure to come up after i changed the pan. I'm having a hard time locating where the noise is coming from even with a stethoscope. You would think that if it was hitting something it would do it right away so i'm leaning towards some other kind of failure.Any thoughts?

I fixed it. The weight on the torque was hitting the pan right above the starter. Thanks! And hey pony driver! I got to be your 1000th post! Do i win a valuable prize of some sort?
