Transmission is jump shifting all over the place???

First of all, 2004 5.4 Lariat Super Crew 4x4. 130,000 miles.

I noticed recently that sometimes, the truck will shift early from 1st to 2nd, and quickly to 3rd gear. Then it will resist downshifting for power unless I jam the accelerator. As I am coming out of 2nd gear, the truck almost stalls out as it seems like it does not want to come out of gear.

This happens randomly but its starting to happen more often. Does anyone have any idea what this can be?

I would start by checking out/replacing the throttle position sensor and cleaning the MAF.

Thanks!!! It was the TPS! Those damn Torx screw both stripped on me, and then the rear screw actually broke so I had to take off the TB and tap it out. Then, I grabbed a three prong sensor instead of the four prong like I needed, and the only 4 prong TPS was halfway across town. After I finally got it all put together, truck would not start at all. All the codes pointed to the TPS out of calibration. I took the tps off and rotated the dial one time clockwise and it worked like a charm. Thanks a million for the advice!!! Much cheaper than transmission work!!!
