1996 F150 4x4 transmission issue

Hey guys, i'm new to the truck scene, and theres an f150 4x4 that has some troubles that I could use a hand with. I'm new to auto transmissions, but I THINK its a torque converter issue. When you throw the truck in drive, it doesn't 'catch' till you rev it up to about 3000 rpms, then it slams into gear and jerks forward. Same thing happens with low gear settings. Reverse works perfectly, though. No hesitation with reverse, smooth as butter. But once it catches initially, it shifts through all gears perfectly.

Cliffs notes:

Won't catch gear in D, 1, 2, till you rev it then it slams into gear, shifts okay to next gears.
Reverse works swimmingly.
Torque converter?

Thanks for your time, guys!

It certainly isn't the torque converter. The torque converter does the exact same thing in reverse as in any of the forward gears. If it were the problem you wouldn't have reverse, either.

I suspect something wrong with the forward clutch, probably a worn out seal.
