I own a 1994 F-150 4.9L with the original E4OD. That transmission went BAD and I installed a 1997 E4OD. The two electrical connectors changed style due to water intrusion problems so I had to splice the 1997 harness/connectors onto the truck wire harness itself. The wires matched perfectly according to colors and the wiring diagram. It works great but it "seems" to stay in second gear a little long then a "strong" shift into 3rd. The 97 E4OD came out of a 5.7 V-8 I believe. My question is: Is the gearing a little different and does my truck computer have to be reprogrammed? No check engine or any other lights are comming on.

The gearing is exactly the same in every E4OD.
