tranny leak after pan drop

well the other day i drained the tourque coverter and droped the pan and changed the filter and i have a new gasket but i tryed to get it to stay in place but it moved around so i just used the reusable gasket since it says its reusable on the pan so i though ford wouldnt lie. And now its leaking on the front top edge of the pan. Its not leaking alot but noticeable and slowly. i was wondering if i just take RTV and put it on the edge of the pan were the gasket and the pan meets cause it only leaks if i drive it so if i leave it for a while and clean it i think RTV might seal it but i would like to hear yalls opinion

did you double check that they are tight? i have never had a ford reusable pan gasket leak.
4r100- 11ft-lbs
4r70w- 9-11 ft-lbs

The E4OD in my 98 has a reusable gasket, and, it leaks. Not pouring out, but enough for me to be concerned. I've re-tightend the bolts multiple times. I think what I am going to end up doing is take the pan back down and adding a little RTV sealant. They making it specifically for Automatic Transmission Pans. I stumbled across it in PepBoys.

Not sure what kind of gasket the 4r100 and 4r70w have, but I imagine it's probably similar...

check the pans that they are completely flat and not warped from over tighting, as well as the gasket rubber becoming to hard.

I'm betting the pan is warped, because he said in another thread that he overtightened a bolt and stripped it out, had to helicoil it.

Could def. be a warped pan, when I took my trans out, and had it rebuilt, I was told someone had it apart before, and that my mechanic needed to heli-coil several bolts on the pan.

Cool. I'm planning on getting a mag-hytec (sp?) pan in the near future.

BTW - I did not end up putting Bosch in. I had bought them, and then learned it was a No-No lol. So I returned them and bought motorcraft
