If he has the 5.4, it is a 4R75E, not the 4R100.

The 4R70 and 4R75 are basically the same. The 4R100 is a very different transmission.

The 4.6 never had the 4R75E, they changed from the 4R70W to the 4R70E.

There never was a 4R100W, it was just the 4R100. It was a rare tranny in a F-150, I think only the Lightning and 7700 had it. Some 97 and 98 5.4's had the E4OD, which is the forerunner to the 4R100. Most 97-03 5.4's had the 4R70W.

2006 f150 5.4 Triton automatic 2 wheel drive overdrive on shifter

I've read through the forums and everyone is all over the place with what transmission goes to what year and truck and so on. Does anyone know what transmission I have. I've been trying to figure it out but cant. Is there a way to tell by the vin? Help please

You can tell by the TRANS code on the door jamb sticker. You most likely have a 4R75E.
