Hello All,

I´m a new member of your communitie and have a question, but first a small intro, later i will write a better one.

My Name is Bob, a Dutchman living in Iceland. I am definitely not a mechanic, but I know may way around most of the times.
I just bought a 1989 F150 XLR Lariat with a lin 6 300 Cubic and a 4 speed manual gearbox.



I knew I could expect small issues with this car and here is the first one. The gear leaver somehow cant select reverse´and the leaver it self could first only swing to the left, now it also swings out to the right.

Anyone had this problem before?

There should be a bushing at the bottom of the stick, it looks like a ball. If it is worn out or the pins on the side are worn or gone that could be the problem.

 

Ok, thanks for the repley, so you think it has nothing to do with de tranny itself? I will open it up tonight!

That would be the easiest thing to check first.
