Part Price

I'm gonna try to tackle a fluid change on my 2002 f-150 with the 5.4 and
4R70W. It has 89,000 miles and the fluid has been changed once. I've read that i'll need about 20 qts or so. Anyway I called to get a filter, and NAPA said 49.95, and Oreilly Auto Parts has it for 14.95. How can there be such a price difference? Anyone know anything about quality of either of these places.

Suggestion - the 02 doesn't have a TC drain plug, so why not take it to a shop and have it done with an exchange machine? The filter really isn't that critical to change.

I agree with glc. You are going to leave about 8-9 qts of old oil in the TC if you just drop the pan to change the filter and oil that drains from the pan only.

Yea, but if I pull the return line and pump the old fluid out it's the same thing as what they would do anyway correct?

I noticed the same thing on tranny lines . Auto zone wants 95 dollars for the one line and Napa has it for 67.00. On the other hand AZ has the filter for 11.99.

I don't worry over a few bucks between stores , but 20.00 difference and when your buying multiple parts it adds up. Im looking at 225.00 vs 150.00 in parts between AZ and Napa for a complete tranny line replacement project that was sprung on me ...then there's the filter and fluid yet
