greasing yoke spline help
You have to remove the drive shaft. There are 4 bolts holding it to the Differential Pinion flange. The heads of these bolts are 12mm 12 point. A 1/2inch socket with a Johnson bar does the trick. Unless you have an impact gun. Truck on the ground. Block the rear wheels so he truck doesn't roll. Index the shaft to the flange so you mount it in the same position. After removing the bolts remove the drive shaft from the flange, sometimes it gets stuck on with corrosion/rust. At the transmission end you simply slide the slip yoke off of the input shaft. Expect oil to drip out of the extension housing when the yoke is removed. A pan under will keep the ground clean. Apply the grease in the yoke and slide. While you have it off examine the condition of the yoke. It rides on a bushing inside the tail housing. If you play off road dirt has a tendency to get on the yoke and destroy the bushing, yoke and seal.
