new and need 4r70w advice

i have a 97 f150 4r70w that went out .i bought a 01 4r70w transmission to put in it got it cheap out of a total with low miles 61,000;i asked a few people that told it should fit :however, passenger side electrical connector is different 01 trans plug has a few more pins in it.. the trucks harness plug looks like it will plug in but i dont think ther would be any wires to these extra pins on the trans. i am having trouble finding wiring diagrams for 97 or 01 transmission to determine if i can do a little rewiring or fab a adaptor plug to make this work. any advice would be greatly appreciated my trucks 97 f150 XLT supercab 2wd 4.6L has 176,000 miles just got this one,
2000 navigator dohc 5.4L AWD/4x4 170,000 miles" its damn near bullet proof " use the 4x4 regularly the only things i've had to replace is an alternator, battery and brakes, it never fails to start and drive anyway thanks for any post i,m up to page 16 read all similar post. thanks in advance ,Craig

Guess my buddies and I just did a 2007 4r70w build date transmission into a 98 4.6l 4x4 and am having a simulare problem. Everything bolted up fine but the truck fell on its face during the test drive until the OSS sensor was unpluged. I am guessing the tone rings are different and causing the computer to shift into high gear at very low speeds.

Darrin,
I hope you dont mind but I sent you an e-mail also.

If it's a 2007 it's a 4R70E, not a W.

i think 98 is still a year requiring a repin of trans connector. verify that

Anything 04 or newer is going to require more than a simple repin. The output shaft ring gear has a different count than the earlier ones.

I'm no help! I just remember bits of my conversations with Darrin. For example, he'll know what your options are with this 07 trans in the 98 and I dont
Of course your welcome to whatever help I may be!

PS Darrin! I got a payment last month, and expect to pick another up today! woohoo right?!
