me? nothing i bought it like that, no really i did lol
when i put it in 4hi or low it souunds like a metalic grinding. like if you wore your brakes down to bare metal. took it to a shop i used to deliver too and said the transfer case is bad. the guy i bought it off of told me that his mechanic said that if you change the front brake pads the noise will go away lol i dont belive it unless the front brakes are somehow realated to the 4x4.

ok just wondering cause i have beat the **** out of mine and havent trashed it yet.

are you engaging the 4x4 on concrete or pavement? that would cause grinding and or binding.
