95' F150 4x4 Transmission Clunking
95' F150 4x4 Transmission Clunking
So I have a 1995 F150 4x4 XL, manual transmission, locking hubs. It recently snowed here, and I have been using 4-Wheel drive, as the roads are snow covered. Coming back from the store, I had to clear our part of my parking spot of snow, so I put it into 4-low and drove through it. I made it through fine, got back onto the road, but could not back up into my spot. Well the roads were still covered in some spots, and 2-Wheel was sliding. So I threw it into 4-high and drove down the street. Once I got to a street that I could turn around on, I turned left and heard a very loud clunk and could feel it as well. I stopped completely, put it into reverse and the same thing happened. A loud clunk and I felt something. Once I stopped reversing, I took it out of 4-high and started heading back to the house. Well something was clunking every time the tire made a complete rotation. I stopped again, looked underneath the hood, nothing was out of the ordinary. I started again and the same sporadic clunking. I unlocked my front hub caps and it was fine, no clunking. I made it up the hill without sliding, and pulled into the spot. I have no checked it since, as I am trying to understand the problem. If anybody knows the reason behind the clunking, please share the information with me. Thanks.
Well my problem is fixed, and it does not make that noise anymore. I locke dthe wheels in last night, drove in 2-high, it was fine. Drove in 4-high, it was fine. Drove in 4-low, it was fine. I have no idea what it was, but it's fixed.
