transmission cooler for automatic tranny?

http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...gno=PPI-ATCKIT

has anyone on here tried this?
its the Troyer Performance Active Automatic Transmission Cooler Kit.

looks pretty nice, can be mounted anywhere because it has its own fan.

just curious as to if anyoen has an after market tranny cooler and how beneficial it is to them.

any input is welcome!

thanks!

It is a nice kit. I have the factory trans cooler and this one as well hooked up. Now when I tow my temps rarely go over 190 and that is towing combined gross of 12K pounds!

Can you tell us where you mounted the cooler? Also what temp is too hot? I ran about 190-200 last time I towed. Ambiant temp was about 70. I expect temps to be higher when the ambiant temp increases next summer.

With conventional tranny fluid, I think about 220 is the top safe limit. With a high end synthetic such as Amsoil, you would have more headroom. Do NOT tow in overdrive, try to keep the torque converter locked as much as possible.

I mounted it in front of the truck. I will get a picture for ya. Also temps never went above 200 I also have a deep dish mag hytech tranny pan and the factory trans cooler. I have 35's on my truck and 3.73 gearing to boot. It really does help the tranny temp and added assurance to keep heat down.
