going to change tranny fluid

Im getting ready to change the transmission fluid i have 16 quarts being shipped to me from amsoil. I have a 04 4r70w tranny, I am going to drop the pan and change the filter and I read that some people removed the return line from the cooler and placed a clear tube over the line into a bucked. and started the engine and let it idle until a air bubble came out and shut the motor off and topped the tranny off and repeated until the fluid was changed. One question i had was how much flow does the return line have. I dont want any supprises when i do this. Amsoil recomended adding fluid as fast as it was pumped out by the motor. does anybody have any recomendations for how to do this? Thanks

done this to mine-run till return line is dry[pan empty]fill up with 4 1/2 qts fluid repeat till capacity is swapped out, when it come s empty, one of those times is when you want to change filter-simple and easy-phil

There is an exact procedure here somewhere, posted by Mark Kovalsky. It was written for a 4R100 but the procedure is essentially the same for 4R70W/4R75E, it just holds a different amount of fluid.

doesn't come out rediculously fast, took about 1-1-1/2 minutes to run dry,i had wife in vehicle to shut off when this time comes,i used a 2 1/2 gallon bucket to catch fluid, much deeper than oil dain pan-phil
