4R70W 1-2 accumulator diagnosis and replacement

1995 5.0 f150 4R70W. 190,000 miles.

Tranny had some work 10 years ago.

Problem. Tranny slips all the way through 2nd with 1/2 or more throttle.
Other gears and operation fine.

I've been told 8-1200.00 for a rebuild. 1-2 accumulator is less than 15.00 and of course filters, fluids etc. I'm thinking parts for self labor would be 1-200.00.

What do you think the chances of this being the culprit are?

From the how-to's I've read, the accumulator is under the v-body and pretty basic to replace.

Does this potential fix, fit the nature of the problem? or does the problem point to something else.

I appreciate any reply's. Times are tight and my labor is free if it's not too complex.

Thanks,
Tom in FL

does your tranny fluid need a change, if so then change it and try the fix and if it doesn't fix the problem so what, at least you tried.

Thanks,
Like you said, couldn't hurt.

I was just wondering if anyone on this site had some experience with this problem/fix.

Thanks again.
