trans shutter and clunk on takeoff

I have an 05 Fx4 Screw 5.4 with 61K on it.

Never had any major issues with it, but it would 'occasionally' give a shutter-clunk on takeoffs.... specifically on an up hill stop and turn near our house.

I have the 75k extended warranty on the truck and need to get it to the dealer as the problem is starting to happen a lot more often now.

I would best describe it as... trans shudder / grind then a hard clunk on take off, especially up hill or turning.

I checked the u-joints and they seem tight. Should I have them check the yoke? Have them re-flash? Opt for a tranny drain and a new filter?

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

good luck, seems like a bunch of us are having tranny issues. like i said in a few other threads, mine has the same issue, but only when rolling and then hit the gas.

for what its worth, i have a new, remaned tranny in mine now as of 2 weeks ago, and shes getting checked out again as we speak for this issue. ill let ya know tomorrow when they tell me whats up.

good luck.

thanks bambo.

I had an appointment for a diagnostic on it yesterday and had to cancel. I'll get it to the dealer next week sometime and post back the results.

The dealer quoted me a price of $42-$92 to do a tranny diag which will include a re-flash (which would have cost $49 by itself anyway).

I'll probably do a tranny fluid and filter service myself this weekend and see if that helps at all.

Mine has been doing the same thing for the last 80,000 miles.....

how much did the valve body cost you, and did the dealer do it?

warrantied through my new transmission from about 3 weeks ago. Part and labor would have cost $257. Hope that helps.
