Well everyone, i smoked my tranny

i was pulling a trailer to work this morning- maybe 5-6000 pounds and when I was almost at the top it started shuddering and losing speed quickly.I pulled over thinking my supercharger went to crap but it was all great. when i got back in i noticed the off light on my shifter was flashing.. Wonderful, i limped it another 1/4 mile to the the top and sat thinking it might cool off.. No such luck.. Had to tow it home and straight to my mechanic. I am preparing for the worst.. Does anyone have any experience with the racer x parts? i am thinking of buying new triple clutch kit, Torque con, armour kit, cooler and filters and rebuild it right.. My truck is an 01 f150 supercrew supercharged lightning engine running 8 lbs. headers, bigger fuel injectors etc.. And I pull a lot so I want this thing bulletproof. Also, is the 4r100 the only tranny option in 01 or were they still installing the the 470?

your gonna want to replace w/ the same unless you like dealing with the electrical nightmare lol. they were still using the 4r70ws in 01 too. you'll need to investigate, i think one way to tell is by counting pan bolts. 14 = 4r70w and 20=4r100. if you find out u have a 70, i'd talk to darrin burch he did a great job on my trans.

So Klitch when you say replace with the same do you mean no aftermarket parts or not swapping the 4r70 with the 4r100? I really don't want to mess with this again because I plan on working this truck a lot... If I wanted to rebuild with racer x components what would I have to do with th electrical to make it work?

by same i meant replace 4r70 with a built 4r70, or 4r75 (same just more of the better parts to begin with) and a 4r100 with a 4r100.

check my sig for his website. he is a member, he may drop by this weekend if he isnt out enjoying himself and his family.

i cant help much with your racer x idea since im not the guru, i've just done enough work to get me by lol. im just referring people to someone who i've dealt with and has done a very good job for me. he's a stand up guy, if you tell him you talked to me he'll probably still laugh at the crap i went through before i went to him. hell i started a whole thread!

Dude Klitch I just read your whole thread, that is nucking futs man!!! I just can't believe how you got screwed over so bad. I'm gonna be in kennewick this summer, should go kick him where his nuts should be if he had any.. lol so did darrin actually build your tranny or just tell you what to do? I have a mechanic here that has done great work over the years and that i trust completely.. my truck is an 01 so would the wiring be easier then your 97? so how did your court case come out?

hah hell no i didnt do it, i didnt and dont have the time to learn. i was working 7 days a week at the time so i had Darrin build it. the main thing with the 70's seems to be knowing whats the good parts to build with. as far as your wiring, i think yours is new enough you might not have any real issues, if you want you can probably talk to darrin about a pin-out.

arbitration went in my favor, he didnt pay so i took him to small claims for breach of contract, he has yet to pay. so i'll probably be taking him to district court next where they are suppose to be able to actually force him to pay.
