Supercharger/Transmission Advice
You would also think that you could takepretty much any of them apart that failed in a stock vehicle and pinpoint a problem. But, that hasn't proven to be the case. You can rebuild one and see no apparent cause for the failure and then put it in some stupid powerful application and have it hold up.
I did that on my car just for the fun of it actually. I took a failed transmission out of a low mile vehicle where I couldn't find a definitive reason for the failure and took it completely apart and cleaned everything up. I then reassembled it using all the old seals and gaskets and everything, changing only the clutch frictions and steels. 40k miles later it is still running strong and I am still abusing it trying to get it to break. I built this one out of stuff that I would NEVER have otherwise used and it just won't die.
It almost has to be contamination from the factory on some of these because I can really find no reason why they failed.
And then there are all the shops out there that can't seem to put one together so that it lasts after they rebuild it...
It just blows my mind.
