changing transfercase fluid

so i pulled out my drive shaft to replace a u joint and the little dribble out of the transfer case looked like oily chocolate milk. so obviously i need to change the fluid. i found the drain plug but where do i fill/check it from? 97 manual 4x4. do i remove the oil pressure probe and fill there?

I just changed mine in my 2002 F150 SupercabFX4 last week. There is a plug on the back side the same size as the drain plug. 3/8" square drive will fit it. You will need a suction gun probably to refill it. At least that is what I used very successfully. I needed slightly more than 2 qts. of Mercon to refill.

My T-Case is on the ground right now so I went out and snapped a pic. I is the Drain and II is the fill. As was mentioned a 3/8 inch drive extension fits in the hole. Clean it out properly or you could strip the plug hole. I use an old extension that I removed the ball from and it slides all the way in. If not be sure to push hard on the extension so the ball compresses and allows the extension to go all the way in.
