92-96 AODE/4R70W in a 98

Will an aode from a 92-96 f150 exchange with the pos aode that's in my '98? What else will fit?

The 98 didn't use AODE, it's a 4R70W or a E4OD. A 4R70W is a revised AODE. A 4R70W is not a POS, go get yours rebuilt by someone who knows what they are doing. If you have a E4OD, that's a strong tranny.

I just did a fluid and filter change on the truck. I bought 2 filter kits, as I didn't realize there was more than 1 tranny offered for these trucks. 1 kit is for a a4od. The other is for an aode trans, as stated on the packages, and the parts counter number system. The pan shape between the 2 are completely different. I used the aod-e kit. My door tag states that my trans is a "U" type which is the 4r70w. The trans I have located is a rebuilt AODE/4R70W for a 92-96 era F150. From what I have found through a google search is that this tranny may very well fit into my truck, as long as it is not for a 4.6 V8. A rebuild of my tranny is not financially possible at this time, as I am unemployed.

An AODE will cause problems with the PCM if you install it where a 4R70W used to be. You're going to get error codes and have the trans in limp home mode all the time. Not a pretty picture.
