speed output sensor

speed output sensor

ok so i posted another thread about my speedometer bouncing and what not and i was told that it was my output speed sensor on my transfer case(2000 f150 7700 4x4). so i got under the truck and cant find exactly what there talking about. i looked up pics on the internet so i could see what it looked like and got a couple different pics and dont know whats the right one or were its at? i need so real help here.

I happen to have a t-case in pieces in the basement so i went and snapped a few pics.

wtf happen to the tierod end? lol

anyway, that should be the one your looking for. im not sure about the later years of the 97-03's but i thought some point it got away entirely from the mechanical speedo?

That tie rod is actually a shift lever left over form one of my Transmission replacements.

The speedo usually is multiplexed on the newer models. That means that the rear abs sensor ties into the vss to relay the speed to the speedo. I haven't seen any that bounce that were "wireless". I suspect an actual speedometer problem. I may be wrong.
