Maybe they don't know it will cause shudder. They were not involved with the development of the 4R70W or with MERCON V.

I am not sure, but I would hope a company like B&M would do their homework. What in the fluid would cause pump shudder?

I have looked in to the B&M fluid...It is fine for the 4R70W & any of the newer electronic controled trany....They have been at this a long time...They even go a little farther than most to make sure..Any body out there that wants to change the way your 4R70W shifs...?? I did the B&M trans pack kit..What a difference..This is the hardest hitting trans i have ever had...Lets put it this way if you dont want it to scrach 2nd you got to take it easy...At half throtle if you shif it at 3000 rpm it ripps them...Thats with 12.50-30-15...MTs

Never heard of pump shudder. I don't know how a pump would shudder.

The lack of an anti-shudder additive would cause torque converter clutch shudder in a 4R70W. MERCON V was developed specifically to eliminate torque converter clutch shudder. Type F fluids do not have this additive.

Oh, My bad, I didn't see Clutch Shudder. I thought you were implying the pump itself would somehow shudder. I guess if someone was worried about it, they could put in the additive, I think when I got my truck they just put in Dextron III and some "additive". Only about 10,000kms after I bought it, I found out it should have Mercon V and swapped it out right away. Probably not a big deal, but I towed toys around alot and didn't want any issues.
