1st, 2nd Then........?!

I was driving home on the highway. I noticed that the trans was acting funny. closer to home it would slightly slip into 3rd then right before i pull in, 3rd slips into neutral!!!

I can switch overdrive off and it will stay in 1 and 2 but wont go into 3rd..

Any ideas???

Its a a tranny shop right now. There gonna pull it and look at the damage.
Pisses me off, i just had the tranny pulled 2 weeks ago to replace the flywheel due to the starter grinding... as the tech went to go test drive it today, it grinded again for the first time since they replaced it!!!!!!!

Its been in a shop for the 4th time this month

Sounds like a broken intermediate stub shaft to me. Were you going kind of on the fast side at some point?

I was going down the highway around 70 for about an hour. started acting up before i got off....

Got the trans pulled and ripped apart, everything is burnt up. 3rd is gone. gonna do a rebuild with a shift kit.

The shop said it probably was a pressure issue. the trans was pulled two weeks ago to replace the flywheel and they overfilled the tranny to the top of the do not add line. i dunno it thats enough to cause foaming...

Thats more then too much. Do not add means DO NOT ADD!!! If it was at the top of that line I think they owe you some money!!!
