E4OD leaking out the back

Does that cone shaped boot the driveshaft goes in seal the trans, or is there
a seal behind that one? How are they removed / replaced?

The cone is to keep dirt out. There's an oil seal further in.

Remove the driveshaft. Then remove the rear housing from the trans. The seal is in this housing. The seal probably failed because the bushing wore out. You can change both.

Mark,
I have a similar issue on a friends 99 F150 (4R70W). Are there any special tools required to replace the bushing or seal?
Thanks!

I think it takes a press to change the bushing.
