If your not installing them then you don't need to know. Read thru the thread I provided above when you get some time if you want to find out.

Basicaly what I"m saying is, you won't know exactly which shims to use untell the intaller puts everything together with the shims they think they will need.

If they use the wrong ones, the setup will be off and they will have to adjust from there.

Also what I'm saying is that I used my factory shims and spacers and everything was setup within tolerance.

So, you will want to use your factory shims and spacers and hopefully it will be good. You will only know if you need different shims or spacers at that point.

for the second time, I would not bring it to a guy who can't do it properly. Why can't he use new shims ? He obviously can't do it right, doesn't know what he is doing, or lack the proper tools.

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Your truck will thank you for it. Bring it to someone who knows what to do, and has all the proper equipment and know how to complete the install.

the extra long drive sucks, ya, but so would blowing out your rear end on the drive home. Or getting a call from the guy, saying he can't finish and you need to pay him for his time anyways. Don't deal with all that hassle, bring it to the shop who can do it once, and do it right.

x2

They only thing I can think of is that the installer quoted him a low price assuming it would be correct the first time.

It will take a lot more time if the guy has to start taking things back apart and putting them back together again to get the setup correct..

The guy is actually a really good mechanic...he does everything on my truck but he doesen't have the tools to do it(some mesuring tool for the shims or w-e) but whats really funny is that my truck started to make a weird noise...turns out its the pinion bearing soo I have to open it up anyways soo I ordered ratech complete instal kit that comes with all the shims and bearings sooo im all set exept for the 3h drive lol!!!!But its gonna be worth it I guess!!!!
