Get a Trans temp gauge first and see what your operating temp is. $80 gets you a B&M Blackout Gauge. I have one in my Expy and and my IROC. Best gauge ever. Get the gauge, see what you run at, than worry about a bigger cooler, deeper pan, and maybe even an electric fan

Several choices.. Get a traditional temp gauge with a temp prob and mount it either in the pan, or the pressure port on the side of the trans case or on the output line to the rad cooler. You could also get one of the computer plug in gauge package things, then all you do is plug it in the com port under the dash. Those cost a bit more, but the install is simple enough!

I did the traditional setup and tapped into the line that goes to the upper rad line. This gives me the trans fluid temp as it comes out of the trans, so it will be the hottest temp the fluid gets.. Not necessarily the same temp in the pan at any point in time, but it's whatever you feel the temps you want to see.. Personal choice really.

But, yes, you want to know if you have a temp issue first before you worry about needing a bigger cooler.. I thought I would need a bigger cooler for towing my TT, but as it turns out, the stock cooler is fine and my temps are well within the acceptable range, so I still have the stock cooler! Been towing my rig for over 6 years now and it's still pulling strong!

Mitch

All good stuff. But get the gauge first. Without it, you won't know if you'll even need any of that stuff, or if it's even working for you once you install it all.

B&M Racing makes a cooker with an electric fan mounted onto it.

My edge tuner doesnt have a trans temp read out
A ScanGauge II will display transmission fluid temperature if you have a late model vehicle with an OBD II port, and your PCM reads it.

Hey man! I thought you were selling the F150?
A scan gauge 2 should be able to give you an accurate digital readout of the internal trans temp as well as lots of other good stuff. Plus it will read/clear codes.
Just plug it in, no need to drill or plumb anything.

Yeah, mounting the scan gauge...
I put mine on top of the steering column, all the way back against the clear plastic.
Not my ideal spot but it sits back there well and doesn't cover anything up. Probably not a convenient place in your round interior though. I never found a "good" place for it in the sport trac.
The aero force deal doesn't look too bad.

yeah I like them both but the scan gauge seems more practical...cuz with the Aeroforce I would need a pillar pod too...and then I'd need more gauges cuz one isnt cool gotta get three lol
