OD light
I have a 1997 F150 4x4 5.4 111,000 miles. Vehicles has been well maintained and not abused. Recently, the IAC valve started making a whistling sound. I am changing this saturday. Two weeks ago while driving around 60mph, the OD light started flashing. I pulled over and checked everything and restarted the truck. Light went out but started again. Stopped and this time the light went out. Drove approximatley 100 miles and the light did not come on. Problem is now the OD off button won't come on...Truck runs great... Any clues

I had a 93 that the OD light just went out on, you could still press it and take it out of OD just no light. My OD light the other day started flashing...but i had a CEL light come on also. Took it into the dealer and there were 17 codes between the engine and transmisson and torque converter.

To find out how major or minor an issue it is, you are going to need to get the code scanned. When it does that with the overdrive light it leaves a code. The flashing OD light is the transmission version of a 'check engine' light.
