Rebuilt or Remanufactured?
You know what though, some things last about as long as they should, some longer than they should and some much less. It's just the way that it is. Unfortunately you got one that didn't last as long as it should.
I truly wish you the best of luck with it's replacement. The units from Ford are as good and very often better than you can get at most places and they do come with that warranty. Like I said, if you are someone that the warranty really matters to then you made a wise choice. Hopefully you won't get any sort of opportunity to use it though.
Take care

you got a great price on the tranny (I was told basically thats cost when I got it) and you have the 100K warranty...I think you did pretty good under the circumstances. As far as the soft shifts go...klitch is talking about moding the valve body which there is no way you could get away with, however I am also running a TP xcal2 and i put the 91 tow tune right back in it. Worst case senario is if something happens put it back to stock and all they can see is that the battery was disconected, and then tell them someone told you to disconect it hoping it would reset somekind of safemode or something (a couple people told me to when my tranny died...wishful thinking!!!)
Where are you guys running your shift points and firmnesses on your tuners?

Not that I dont believe you Darrin, but they showed me the bin of all the parts replaced...the whole planetary drive system, every gear, every bearing. They had to because I destroyed it driving it to the dealer after first gear went. I am good friends with the owner so he gave me a smokin deal on the R&I and the labor rebuilding it, plus I recommended about 5 of my buddies to him for tranny rebuilds. But he still covered his costs.
Rhino, I feel your pain with only gettin 65k, I got 67k out of mine, had to go right before xmas too, glad I dont have kids because they woulda had a sad xmas this year.

i bet you did not get "your" trans back. maybe you did, but probability is the easier route.
i sent my 97 4r70 in and got a 94 back from my deal.
heres all my parts in a box!

to clarify, yes i was thinking of a shift kit for firmness.

Of course it is possible to replace parts with used parts for that price. It is definitely impossible to do it with new parts. I can give you a list of parts and you can call Ford yourself. Even if you take 50% off list price, which nobody anywhere gets, you are still going to be over $1600 in the parts alone.
Definitely not saying that it happened to you, but it's also possible to give someone parts that didn't come out of their transmission and tell them that they did. I had a guy bring me a box of parts that supposedly came out of his transmission. Man, there were parts in that box from jsut about everything. Transmissions, rear ends... You name it. LOL
Again, it isn't a matter of believe me or not. This is something that you can do some legwork on and find out for yourself. It's totally impossible to replace all the internals on a transmission for the price you quoted.
I will also make my earlier offer again. I have a bunch of old 4R70W transmissions around and am more than willing to ship one to your guy if he can rebuild one and replace everything inside it with new Ford parts for that price. If he does then I will be his best advertisement because for my part I will take it apart and post pictures telling everyone what I got. This should be a simple thing to get done and a win for everyone, right? Just tell me where to send the transmission and I will get it on a pallet and out the door on Monday.
