will a 6 speed fit my 5.4l

I am wondering if one of them fancy new 6 speed auto trans will bolt up to my '01 5.4L. I am sure I would have to change some control modules or sensors or something like that, but that is to be expected.

Good question, but I bet it would be expensive for a new one, maybe a trade in for a 2009 is more pratical.

bolt up, im pretty sure since 09 has the 5.4 avail too. the problem will be figuring out the electrical end.

I've always wondered if you could take the tranny and the PCM from a 09 and make it work for an 04-08 since it's the same engine... It might take some custom tuning just to make the PCM work with the older motor but it seems reasonable.

You could bolt it in, but I'll bet you never would get it to shift right. The electrical part of that, especially getting the computer to work, is not trivial. It's nearly impossible. Good luck.

Also, I remember that the 5 speed would not physically fit in the F150 tunnel, and I know that they did change the floor of the 2009 some making it flat in the back. However, I sure hope that they do fit and they are giving them away too.

nearly impossible, maybe
but that nearly means it is possible. with the right knowledge someone could do it if it will bolt up.

the cost of the swap probly would not be worth your time. you would have to buy a new one since the tranny just came out. then buy all the electronics. i would guess you would easily spend 4500. probly much more. you would need custom tuning at a dyno.
