Clutch goes out overnight?
Clutch goes out overnight?
Saturday I bought a '95 F-150 reg. cab 2WD with the I-6 and a 5 Spd. They said the clutch was replaced about 600 miles before I bought it. Long story short, it started to slip a little in 4th on Sunday and i just assumed that it was clutch breaking in. But on Monday it was pretty much shot.
Called the tranny shop and they verified that it was done though they did say it was a few months ago and wasn't able to tell me the mileage on the truck when it was serviced.
But I've never seen a clutch slip only just a little one day then basically go the next day.
The only thing I can think of is that the slave cylinder went and it is getting fluid all over the disc. It still seems to fully disengage when shifting so that is why I do question that. I did notice the that the friction point appears to be towards to the top of the pedal.
I'm going to pull the tranny out tomorrow and see what is going on but I just wanted to know if you guys had any thoughts for me to check out. Or if you've seen this before.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe
