1998 Lariat

I have a 1998 f-150 lariat short wheel base 4x4 super cab. 5.4l motor I have a problem when I am pulling a horse trailer and go to turn I have to let off the gas because if I try to accelerate during turn the truck vibrates and shakes real bad it doesnt do it if I turn and dont accelerate. How can I tell what model tranny I have? I was hoping it was a u-joint or unbalanced drive shaft but i have prepared myself for the worst. Has anyone else had these problems? The truck seems to run fine when going straight only a little vibration. Is there anything I can do to correct these problems? I am trying to find out if I have a 4r100 or e4od. Thanks in advance for any help.

Not familar with the 4r100, however an easy way to tell the difference between the 4r70W and the e4od can be found on page 171 of the owners manual.

"blade type dipstick
(4R70W transmission) or below
the COLD area on the bullet type
dipstick (E4OD transmission)"

Most likely it's a 4R70W.

You can count the pan bolts too. A mostly square pan with 14 bolts = 4R70W.
