shift kit? and other noob Q's

So i have been upping my truck quite a bit.. mostly cosmetic, but i buy a k&n fipkII and a custom bent SI/SO exhaust. Im really looking to get more power and more pick up out of my truck. I am planning on getting a chip/tuner soon, but after a couple more mods.

I was talking with my girlfriends dad, and he was talking about throwing a shift kit in to prevent the stock tranny settings from the factory "slippage". He also said that the shifts are a lot firmer and you can really fell the trucks power. is this correct? is it worth the kit and would it benefit my transmission at all? If so, where do i find a kit for my truck? its an '04 New body style 5.4L 4x2 SCAB.

another question... not sure if this is the right place for this question but how beneficial are "upgraded pulleys", i believe they are called under-drive pulleys. what benefits do they have to my truck? more power? quicker throttle response? any downfalls?

Thank you for your help guys in advance. Most of everyone on here is very knowledgeable and helpful, and i appreciate it!

(check out my truck in my gallery!)

Not that it is the only option, but in my opinion a complete modified valve body from Troyer Performance is the best option.

search around for underdrive pulley for more detail. Basically, it is a smaller pulley that drives the accessories slower. Which means at higher rpms your wasting less on over driven things and it is easier for the engine to spin that drive pulley.
