I gave a 97 150 x-cab and just wnnt down the street and with the new fallen snow put it in 4wd when went to shift back to 2wd the light would not change but when truck was shut off and restarted it would start in 2wd then would shift into 4wd.. Stupid me tried 4low and now it won't shift out of 4low all fuses are ok please help

Sometimes i have to work the shifter back in to 2wd

 

It's electronic on dash (dial)

 

make sure you are in neutral when you do it...

turn it off and back on with it in 2wd?

 

ever have the windsheild replaced? (serious question) sounds like GEM possible. If your in a tight spot and need to get in 2wd you can take off the switch motor and manually move it to 2wd. On the 98 it is labled under the seal of the switch motor. If your in 4lo you may have to jack it and put it in neutral if the transfer case is locked. Problem is, unless you get the switch motor to move , you can't put it back on to keep garbage out of the t-case. don't force it, if it is like the 98 it has a worm gear reduction.

 

hey same thing yesterday i have a 1997 ex-cab just got it out pull the transfer case motor under that there is a rod its marked 4h 4l 2h block the wheel put it in netruel turn the rod to 2h then let roll back a few feet should come out the light will stay on the dash there is a wire that runs into the plug on the motor had to cut it leave enough to butt end back together there 4 bolts holding it in place cant put the motor back on then check the frount of the truck to see if the front axes unlocked if not let me know if you find out why it got stuck in the first place let me know that also

 

Working on it at buddys shop tomorrow will let you know what it is

 

I have a 2006 f150. I started lack of power and stalled a few times. Then quit and i could not here the fuel pump, and 3psi on scan tool then started working again and the 4low light came on and it's stuck in 4low now. How did you get it out of 4low?
