General lifespan of a 4 speed auto?

What is the general life span of our automatic 4 speeds? The reason I ask is because on my last vehicle, a Ranger, I had to get the transmissions rebuilt at 50K. I bought that truck used so I also don't know what in God's name the previous owner did to it.

The expected life is between 100k and 300k miles.

That's with just normal driving and occasional hot-rodding? I know for a fact that the previous owner babied my truck, so hopefully, no surprises.

That guy with the million mile van is still on his original - but it's a E4OD. He gets it flushed with a T-Tech machine every 50k.

mine died at 103K...that is with slightly bigger tires, tuner, and some towing...I have a 100K warranty on the new one, so hopefully if it dies, it does before 100K or just goes a long time!

Well, I won't be doing any towing or adding bigger wheels or tires, but possibly a tuner down the road. I really hope this tranny last the whole life of the truck.

It's all in how you drive em, maintain em, & what you ask of them when you work em!
